Welcome to the second ‘What Face Wednesday’ metal typeface identification competition! This week I am offering the prize of a handsome letterpress poster (including free International p&p), hand-printed by The Occasional Print Club, of which I am a member. The prize can be viewed here.
As before, answers must be posted on this Blog (as a comment) and the first correct identification of the typeface will be the winner. Sorry, but I will not be able to accept answers submitted via Twitter or email. Good luck!
Congratulations to the (joint) winners of this week’s competition, Sarah Spooner & Jon Gregory, who correctly identified the typeface as Reiner Script. This typeface was designed by Imre Reiner and introduced by the Amsterdam Typefoundry in 1951.

As first attempt. Is it Dream Lover Optical?
Reiner Script?
Reiner Script Regular
It’s Reiner Script regular.
Yes the typeface is REINER SCRIPT designed by Imre Reiner and issued by: N.V. Lettergieterij Amsterdam – Voorheen N. Tetterode, Amsterdam, NL, in 1951.
From approximately 1970 and until the foundry closed down in 1988 they used the “ta” pin mark – Tetterode Amsterdam. So, your types are relative new and I hope they also are in a god condition.
Reiner Script is a very beautiful typeface – I wish it was represented in my collection!

Hi Jens,
Thank you for adding the additional information relating to Reiner Script – interesting stuff. I only hold Reiner Script in one size (60 point) but it is a strong fount and in good condition.
One day I hope to add Imre Reiner’s Matura to my collection although I have never seen it offered, for sale, here in the UK.
Best wishes & congratulations for winning last week’s What Face Wednesday competition!
Justin
Imre Reiners MATURA is a English Monotype face, series number 496, so it should be possible for you to purchase a used font or have one cast, if you can find a foundry there have the mats in stock.
