Welcome to the ninth ‘What Face Wednesday’ metal typeface identification competition! This week’s prize is a choice of any two hand-printed letterpress greeting cards (including free International p&p) from the selection on my Typoretum website.
This week I am looking for the name of the typeface and its’ designer. Please email your answers to me; all correct answers will be placed in a hat and one winner will be randomly drawn. Good luck!
Congratulations to the winner of this week’s competition, Simon Lewin, who correctly answered both questions. The typeface is Floriated Capitals (or Gill Floriated), designed by Eric Gill and introduced by The Monotype Corporation in 1935. My fount of 60pt Floriated Capitals was cast by the late John Eickhoff at his Acorn Type Foundry in Bristol.
