A sample of Chancery Cursive

chancery_cursive2

The exquisite example of hand lettering shown above was recently presented to me by my former printmaking tutor and friend, Roy Caplin (aka ‘RC Scryven’). What makes the piece extraordinary is that Roy has reversed the lettering so that it becomes illegible to the untrained eye, unless deciphered with the aid of a mirror. I hope to feature more beautiful examples of Roy’s work here soon and he has an extensive repertoire of hand lettering styles.
